Dueaa Goes To London
Dublin!

This past Wednesday was St. Patrick’s Day and Iffat, Dimilsa, Angela, and I decided to go to Dublin for the day. Yes for the day. We were exhausted by the end of it but it was so worth it. After catching our early flight in, we decided to head to the parade. Along the way, I got an awesome leprachaun hat and green, white, and orange boa. I got a great spot right by the River Liffey and we all got lucky because it was unusually sunny and warm :) The entire area of O’Connell Street was literally a sea of green, and everyone was dressed up somehow. I also saw the cutest Irish babies ever—red/blonde hair, green eyes, freckles, and Irish accents. I was in love and wanted to steal one. After watching the parade, we decided to do some actual sightseeing on our only day there and proceeded to go to St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It is a beautiful cathedral and very peaceful, but what excited me most was Jonathan Swift’s grave. That was pretty awesome to see. After relaxing in the church for a bit, we headed out to the Guinness Storehouse. It’s shaped like a pint glass and in fact it is the largest pint glass in the world. We took a tour of the entire storehouse and got to see how exactly the black stuff is made. At the end, we got up to the Galaxy Bar which is the highest rooftop bar in Dublin with 360 degree panoramic views of the city. It was so beautiful. Dublin itself is a charming city with a great mix of modern and historic buildings and roads. The only thing I regretted was not staying for one night because as we were heading back to the airport, the true hustle and bustle of St. Patrick’s Day was happening. After the long trip back to London, we were all beyond exhausted. I managed to wash my face and put my pjs on, then collapsed onto my bed for 9 hours until I had to wake up for class. Only in Europe can I go to a different country for one day and come back the next as if nothing happened.
