I am probably the unluckiest person on earth. I get to the Gare du Nord in order to take my train to Brussels and I end up waiting online for an hour, eventually missing my train. When I finally speak to the ticket booth operator about getting another ticket, she tells me that all trains to Belgium have been CANCELLED! Great, at least I technically didn’t miss my train but there are no trains until further notice. I managed to find an internet cafe and this is where I am now. I check the BBC to see what’s up and this is what I see as the headline: BELGIAN TRAIN CRASH, AT LEAST 20 FEARED DEAD IN HALLE. Apparently, two local commuter trains in the city of Halle, southwest of Brussels, crashed head on and all international trains from London and Paris have been cancelled until further notice. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8515855.stm

Hopefully, train service will be resumed or else I’m going to have to cancel my hostel and return ticket from Brussels to London, and just hop on a Eurostar back to the UK. I’m kind of in emotional limbo right now; feeling terrible for those who died and feeling pissed about the delays and amount of money and time I’m about to waste.
