Dueaa Goes To London
I’m here!

After boarding my flight last night with no problems, I landed in Heathrow Airport at about 11am GMT. My friend and fellow Barnardian Amy and I were lucky enough to fly together making things a lot easier for the both of us i.e: having someone to watch your stuff when using the bathroom. After taking a cab, we finally got to our residence hall, Dinwiddy House, at around 2pm. My flat is on the ground floor which was really convenient with move-in. I have a pretty decent size single room and my own private bathroom (!).

My flatmates are pretty awesome which was a total relief since it only hit me during the cab ride that I could possibly have crappy flatmates. They were really excited to meet me and we’ve all been hanging out in our shared kitchen. We even went to the supermarket together (Tesco’s = amazingly cheap stuff). Two things I noticed about Tesco’s were 1) The English love their ham…in the sandwich meat isle, I literally had to look around for a good five minutes before I spotted turkey among the various brands of ham available and 2) The supermarket had at least three full rows stocked with all sorts of alcohol…I never saw that amount of alcohol in a supermarket in my life! Once we got back from Tesco’s, we all had dinner together in the kitchen; I myself had a microwavable chicken tikka masala which was really good :) One of my flatmates is making an amazing chocolate cheesecake right now and me along with another flatmate took part in the ceremonial batter-licking—so good! Overall I’m having an great time and I’m nearly done unpacking (woot woot!). Thankfully I forced myself not to take a nap during the day in an attempt to beat jet lag so I’ll probably be headed to bed soon.
