After doing some research, I’ve decided to choose tumblr as my primary method of blogging for the next six months or so. Hooray for blogging! I’ve never been the journal-keeping type, but I’ve vowed to blog at least once a week from now on…so please hold me accountable to this promise!
I’m currently working my last desk shift at the Admissions Office and attempting to figure out how I can finish packing my entire room up as soon as possible. I’m going to be abroad next semester, studying at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, UK. I’m uber excited, a little nervous, and pretty optimistic about Spring 2010 and will officially embark on this journey on the 7th of January.
I’ll be in London for approximately five to six months, depending on when my exams end. I have to be honest though; the academic aspect of study abroad has basically been on the back burner since I started this entire process in September. I’m really focused on absorbing as much as I can from my new surroundings while learning more about myself. My only experience in London was being stuck in transit for eight hours in Heathrow when I was 11 or 12 so I can truly say that this will be a cultural immersion worth savoring and documenting (hence the tumblr). It’s my last day at Barnard today and it’s bittersweet considering I’ll be missing out on a lot next semester (the opening of our new student center among other things); however, I know that this will be one of the best decisions I ever made and hopefully life-changing for the better.
